As we initially worked to establish our organization, “foot health” was quickly identified by both outreach workers and individuals experiencing homelessness as a major area of difficulty. Without regular access to adequate shelter, showers, and clean footwear, minor foot issues can quickly become major medical problems. In March 2016, we began offering free Foot Care Clinics at First United Methodist Church. At each clinic, guests have their foot-care needs assessed by a trained nurse, can access podiatry services if needed, and are offered a warm foot-bath followed by receiving fresh socks and/or shoes when available and needed.
The MACH OneHealth Foot Care Clinic is now a monthly service that takes place on Saturdays from 9AM – 12:30PM at The Beacon or Salvation Army. Upcoming Foot Care Clinics can be found on our Calendar.
